Community Initiatives

The Catholic Foundation of Greater Philadelphia regularly launches and supports initiatives like the following efforts, all part of our demonstrated commitment to our Catholic community within the Church of Philadelphia.

Angel Award

The Angel Award is a unique grant program supporting innovative efforts that promote evangelization in the Greater Philadelphia area. Awarding grants between $25,000-$50,000, this program was envisioned as an investment in the future of the Church. Throughout the application process, the CFGP Grant Committee mentors applicants as they move through the grant cycle concluding with a final, live presentation made to members of our Board of Trustees who make the final award decisions. CFGP hosts a reception for the finalist presentations and invites local philanthropists to join in hearing the inventive and passionate work being done in the Catholic community.

Create Your Catholic Legacy

Create Your Catholic Legacy Awareness Month takes place in May to educate people on how they can support their parish or a Catholic cause close to their hearts through gifts in their wills, trusts, or estate plans. Our efforts didn’t end there, however. We are called to continue nurturing this legacy of faith, hope, and love, making every day an opportunity to contribute to our community's strength and resilience. Whether you'd like to review planned giving opportunities for the first time or if you have already included a Catholic organization, ministry, or program in your estate plans, we would love to connect with you.

Women in Philanthropy

Women in Philanthropy is a signature initiative of The Catholic Foundation of Greater Philadelphia that unites faith-filled women to collectively fund grants and strengthen local Catholic organizations through a common purpose and community. Through the shared commitment of its members, this initiative is centered on three pillars: building community, celebrating service, and amplifying impact.

#iGiveCatholic

This effort is staged on the global GivingTuesday (the Tuesday following Black Friday and Cyber Monday). Recognized by the Church as the official Catholic Giving Day, #iGiveCatholic seeks to unite Catholic communities and donors nationwide in supporting Catholic parishes, schools, and nonprofit ministries. Since 2020, our first year participating, The Catholic Foundation of Greater Philadelphia has raised more than $7 million and supported hundreds of Catholic entities within the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
