The Office for Ministry with Youth walks alongside young people across the Archdiocese, accompanying them as they discover their faith, their voice, and their place in the Church.
Rooted in the mission of the Catholic Church of Philadelphia, the Office equips pastors, youth ministers, and parish leaders with the tools and support they need to accompany youth from every corner of the region. Through leadership development, formation, and meaningful service opportunities, they help young people grow not just as participants, but as missionary disciples who know they belong in the life of the Church.
At the heart of this work is the Youth Co-Leadership Protagonism Initiative (YCOPI), a cohort-based model that empowers teens to take ownership of their faith and lead within their parishes alongside trusted adult mentors. In one recent cohort, a young participant brought what she learned back to her parish and guided her peers through discovering their own gifts for service, sparking new energy and purpose within the entire group. Moments like this are what accompaniment looks like in practice. Young people are not simply attending programs. They are stepping forward as leaders.
In her conversation with Ted Qualli, President and CEO of The Catholic Foundation, Marisally Santiago, Director of the Office for Ministry with Youth, shares what it truly means to “walk with” young people and why investing in relationships, mentorship, and formation makes all the difference. When youth feel seen, supported, and trusted, faith takes root in lasting ways.
Recognized as a 2025 Angel Award finalist for its thoughtful and innovative approach to evangelization, the Office continues to expand its reach, ensuring more parishes and more young people have the support they need to grow in faith and leadership.
